If you follow this business letter template and these guidelines, your business writing can improve immensely. You'll be able to take on the task of business letter writing with great confidence - and others may even come to you for advice! A writing skill that people will notice! Yes, yes, yes!
What are some of the types of letters you might write?
Letters are either written from scratch so to speak - letters you originate - or they are written as replies.
Examples of letters you originate. If you're at home or at work, you might have to write
The complaint letter. This may be called a "claim" letter, perhaps because you may be making a claim for damages or something similar. Still, you are complaining, and that is the basis.
In addition to following the business letter template provided on this page, you must be positive in everything you write. Positive, positive, positive. Put yourself in the position of the reader. He/she does not want to read a rant from you - and if you choose to rant, you will not get very far.
Always be fair, courteous, and positive.
The congratulatory letter. You must sound sincere - and that is the most important consideration. Sincerity. It's better not to say something at all rather than to write something that is obviously insincere. So, care must be taken to use the most appropriate phrasing.
The Sales letter. No one wants junk mail, and sales letters often fall into the category of "junk mail." Sadly, this is true - and you, yourself, probably have tossed a few of them, mistaking them for "junk mail."
A good sales letter is concise, courteous, and catches the reader's attention. It appeals to the reader's needs - and can fill the reader's needs - and that is the key!
Letters you reply to. If you are replying to a letter, then the letter you reply to must naturally contain all the necessary information to respond adequately to your reader.
Use the standard letter template in all your letters, and then the replies should be fairly straightforward.
